Live Anywhere with the Ecocapsule

The Ecocapsule is the perfect solar-powered pod house -- what's even better is you can take it anywhere in the world.

Worrying about a big space to live in is not a problem nowadays. The smaller the space, the better — especially if it has everything you need. This might be the perfect solar-powered pod house. What's even better is you can take it anywhere in the world; it can be airlifted, shipped or towed so it's easy to transport it. The Ecocapsule is a small, egg-shaped house that could be the perfect home for someone who loves living on the edge. Literally, since you can put it anywhere you want.

Designed by Nice Architects whose team hails from Slovakia, an Ecocapsule is a fully portable living space powered by solar and wind energy which collects and reuse rainwater and dew. The capsule measures 14.6 feet (about 4.5 meters) long by 7.9 feet (2.4 meters) wide by 8.2 feet (about 2.5 meters) tall.

The roof is covered with solar cells with a retractable pole where the wind turbine is attached. Both power sources charge the battery so even if you encounter a calm or cloudy weather, you would still have some power to use. The company says the energy system would be able to support someone living off the grid for almost a year. This has got be the best backpacking accessory ever.

The designers made good use of the interior space which has a folding bed, a table, two chairs, a small kitchen, shower, toilet, a few storage spaces and windows. A look inside the capsule which looks really comfortable:

Nice Architects has yet to reveal the price of the pods but they plan on taking orders by the end of the year with the units shipping in early 2016. The final price however will depend on the location since the buyer will be shouldering the shipping fee. Delivery to New York for example has an estimated fee of $2,394 — that's around P107,000!

According to their website, the company plans to show the Ecocapsule to the public later this week during the Pioneers Festival in Austria, and later this year in the Slovak National Pavilion.
