Periscope for Android is now Here!

Two months after releasing the app on iOS, it is now available on Android.

Periscope is finally available on Android today — two months after releasing the app on iOS.

"When we started Periscope, we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportationā€Š—ā€Šby providing users with the best way to start or watch a live video broadcast," as posted on their website regarding the launch of the Android app.

The app has all the features we see on iOS which includes livestreams you can save to watch later and the ability to broadcast. Getting 1 million users in its first 1- days, Periscope has proven it can be a source of entertainment for celebrities and budding media personalities. It can also be used for personal entertainment and pirating pay-per-views like the popular Mayweather and Pacquiao fight which may have been the highlight of the app.

However, there are a few special features on the Android version. The app features (1) a different design that is both familiar and modern to the users, (2) control over notification settings for when a follower goes live and has shared a broadcast or starts being followed by another user, (3) offers a "resume notification" so you can continue watching where you left it off in case a broadcast gets interrupted and (4) replays are saved without requiring the broadcaster to upload a file which saves you a lot of space and time.

Periscope is now available in the Google Play Store, and should work on phones running Android 4.4 (KitKat) and above.
