Bag That Beauty!

Robinsons Specialty Stores plays "purse paparazzi" to blogger Lissa Kahayon and sports celebrity Rachel Maquis.

What is inside one’s bag says something about a girl’s personality. The Beauty Section of Robinsons Department Store recently peeked into the purses of fitness and fashion blogger Lissa Kahayon and volleyball star Rachel Daquis to see what products they are partial to and what it says about their persona.

Bag of style

Lissa Kahayon is popular in the online fashion community as she helps people refine their personal style. Her style is quite unpredictable, she says, as she can be androgynous one minute and feminine or punk-rocker the next. This versatility was revealed when we raided her bag and found interesting items in a girl’s bag.

The first items you see in Lissa’s bag are the basics: mobile phone, wallet, ball pen and a powerbank to see her phone through the whole day. All these keep her as efficient as she needs to be, online. Meanwhile, what keeps her fresh and lovely all day though are her hair brush, lipstick and lip balm, oil blotter, and two pairs of shades. A glance at her vanity kit also exposed essentials like alcohol, wet facial wipes, tissue, mouthwash, and mints.

“I also have my matte brick lipstick, the oil blotter, my photo-ready, eyelash curler, and my liquid foundation to keep me glammed up. But of course, I do have a small flashlight and a whistle to keep me safe in case of emergency!” the 26-year old fashion blogger said.

As a beauty fanatic, Lissa confesses she loves keeping abreast with the latest trends. However, if there is one thing she is consistent about, it’s her lipstick hue: “I usually stick to shades of nude and light pink.”

Over the years, Lissa has managed to preserve her flawless complexion by investing in quality skin care products like eye cream, serum, and moisturizer. “People my age should be more mindful with their skin care regimen, limit their alcohol intake and quit smoking,” she explained. She emphasized that finding time for a regular work out despite one’s frenzied day gets you de-stressed and revved up. She also believes in eating healthy by loading up on more vegetables for that glowing skin, and getting at least 8 hours of sleep nightly.

Real beauty is all-inclusive, Lissa says. One has to be presentable and ready with that winning smile and believes that looking good stems from feeling good at all times.

Sporty style in a bag

Rachel Anne Daquis is a highly admired volleyball player who used to represent the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws where she was team captain. And for someone who straightforward and sporty, expect the basics—wallet, perfume, mobile phone, lip & cheek tint and concealer—when one raids her bag.

Don’t get her wrong though. Rachel may be active and not as flashy, but she loves to keep herself looking good all the time, too. “As long as I have my favorite concealer, lip & cheek tint and BB cream plus the usual things I need for the gym, I’m good to go,” she mused. She opts for all-natural products when choosing her makeup.

“Proper diet, regular exercise, keeping hydrated and maintaining proper hygiene are considered beauty rituals that work for me,” Rachel said.

She believes that true beauty begins with the kind of confidence that makes every person look good. “Every girl should realize that to look good, she has to be confident and value herself for what she’s worth and not by beauty standards set by society,” she said.

While true beauty begins from the heart, it can be enhanced with the right brands of skin and beauty products. Check out The Beauty Sections of Robinsons Department Store branches. They are stacked with popular local and international beauty, skin care and fragrances brands.
