The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a classic that has been passed down from different generations since it was published in 1943. The fantastic fantasy story was first published 1943 and since then been translated in more than 250 languages, and soon, The Little Prince will head to the big screen as a stop motion and computer-animated family drama fantasy film directed by Mark Osborne for the young and young at heart to enjoy.

Filled with watercolor artwork, The Little Prince is more than a kids' book — this well-loved classic French novel is brimming with lessons of life, especially when times are tough, the soul is tired, and adulting a.k.a. growing up can be a confusing thing.

Here are 12 excerpts from the book that will give everyone — especially all you twentysomethings — a little nudge for when you need inspiration in life.

"I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies."

This is similar to the story of the ugly duckling before transforming into a beautiful swan. Enduring means being patient, and patience with a caterpillar seems like waiting for forever; but to transform into a majestic butterfly will take time, and ultimately be rewarding. Patience, little caterpillar.

"The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched; they are felt with the heart…
Now here is my secret, it's very simple: you can only see things clearly with your heart.
What is essential is invisible to the eye."

Do what makes you genuinely happy because your heart knows best. The quote has more to offer than love, as the heart does not only contain matters of romance but also all things that will drive your soul crazy. Most of the time, we forget to use our heart in this world that we don't exactly know what we're seeking for.

“For me you are only a little boy just like a hundred thousand other little boys.
And I have no need of you.
And you have no need of me, either.
For you I’m only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes.
But if you tame me we’ll need each other
You’ll be the only boy in the world for me and I’ll be the only fox in the world for you.”

We meet a lot of people and they don't really matter until the two of you find something more than to make small talks about. Only then will you realize that you've gained someone really important in your life and would be content with the company you keep.

“You become responsible, forever,
for what you have tamed.”

Building relationships takes time and effort; you are responsible to the people who you have allowed to enter your life. To quote another author, "Friends are the family you choose."

“Where are the people?” resumed the little prince at last. “It’s a little lonely in the desert…” “It is lonely when you’re among people, too,” said the snake.”

Have you ever felt alone in a sea of people? It's okay, everyone has felt that at least once in their life but that doesn't mean you wouldn't want to be surrounded by people anymore. Sometimes, we just have to make wise decisions and carefully choose who we really should be spending time with. Ditch those toxic people who make you feel empty inside and invest on relationships that would make you feel good about yourself without having to try hard.

“You're beautiful, but you're empty.
No one could die for you.”

Sometimes we get too preoccupied fixing our looks that we forget to invest on our personality, which is the most important thing. Would you want to be a beautiful person with an empty personality? Nourish your inner beauty.

“I know a planet inhabited by a red-faced gentleman. He’s never smelled a flower.
He’s never looked at a star, he’s never loved anyone.
He’s never done anything except add up numbers.
And all day long he says over and over, just like you, ‘I’m a serious man!
I’m a serious man!’ And that puffs him up with pride.
But he’s not a man at all-He’s a mushroom!”

We become engaged in our 9 to 5 work schedule that we forget to have fun. While we're building our career, we shouldn't forget to enjoy life, too. As many people get older, they tend to become stiffer; so loosen up and breathe a little. Stop and smell the roses, as what they say.

“For the travelers the stars are guides. For others they are nothing but tiny lights. “

It's all about perception. Imagine looking up the night sky and finding yourself below a million of stars as bright guides filled with your future; then imagine looking up and seeing only tiny lights. Everything is different to a traveler's point of view since he has seen things he will only see and experience things he will only experience.

“No one is ever satisfied of where he is.”

The grass is always greener on the other side as the popular saying goes, but the grass is greener where you water it. Makes sense, right?

“Men occupy a very small place upon the Earth.”

This is a great reminder that we should remain humble no matter how much we've already achieved in life.

“It is much more difficult to judge yourself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom.”

Why not try to focus more on yourself than judging other people? In this way, we can grow as individuals. Before we criticize other people, let us reflect upon our own actions.

“All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.”

Never let the childlike wonder in you fade away — everyone can still be a child at heart once the heart is open. Don't be a sad adult and miss out on The Little Prince coming to life on the big screen. The Little Prince opens December 2, 2015 in cinemas nationwide. The film will be released and distributed by Captive Cinema. Watch it soon — your inner child will thank you for it.
