You can never have too much chicken especially one that's packed with flavor and remains extremely juicy that your taste buds will feel as though they've been awakened after a deep slumber. Galo, a Portuguese word which means rooster is the newest addition to the Venice Grand Canal Mall Food Hall specializing in Latin American cuisine which boasts a plate of well-seasoned Grilled Chicken.
Formed by a group of young individuals, this isn't their first time in the food business having a restaurant which focuses on Middle Eastern cuisine in three different locations now. They hope Galo follows suit and become a full-blown restaurant soon — a place where people can hang out after work.
Looking at Galo's menu, you wouldn't feel overwhelmed at all. Their version of Patatas Bravas (P145) is a delight since it is deep-fried until they look like gold nuggets — a different take on how it is usually done which is boiled in water, pan-fried and smothered with tomato sauce or aioli. They even use the same breading for their fried chicken so it's still tasty even without their sauce which has chorizo bits that we mistakenly thought for bacon. One of the can't-miss dishes in their menu is the Chorizo Sisig (P195) that's good for sharing and best paired with their Galo Fried Rice (P35).
What's a visit at Galo if you're not going to try their specialty dishes? They're 1/4 Latin Chicken (P175) and Lomo de Carne (P295) which are beef tenderloin skewers are both served with galo fried rice, a refreshing latino salsa, a tangy chimichurri sauce and salsa picante that adds a little heat to every bite. Try the Galo Fried Chicken (P175) which is served with the galo fried rice and their gravy if you're not in the mood for something grilled.
Other specialties include the Saltado lineup which is similar to their Soft Tacos but is instead served with stir-fried rice and their original sauces. Both are available in pork (P180), chicken (P170) and fish (P175).
