Where can your 300 Pesos take you? A lot of places, actually. But I'm betting InterContinental Manila isn't included in your list.

Away from the maddening crowd at Serendra or Bonifacio High Street, there’s a quiet cafe a few blocks away at Forbeswood Heights – Numa Tea Salon. Formerly T Salon in Glorietta 4, Makati, this cozy restaurant has found a new home in the more laid-back part of Bonifacio Global City.

"I haven't met someone who didn't like that. Did you like it?" Chef Ed Bugia asked. My mouth, which is full, fascinated, and clearly busy at that moment, jabbered something that sounded like 'YEERRSH! Sschupeer! Mmm!' out of sheer excitement. I hope he excused my forgetting of manners.

So what exactly is Australian cuisine? According to the owners of Aussie Cafe & Resto, it's a hodgepodge of different flavors coming from different countries -- being a multicultural and multiracial land, their food is what you can call 'multicuisine' as well. You can commonly find in Australia salads with meat, muffins and coffees, sandwiches, and of course their more popular take on barbecues, ribs and grills. There's also a current trend of Mediterranean cuisine in Australia, I am told. So basically, we've all pretty much tried Australian food, without us knowing it.

Mother's Day and Valentine's Day easily rank as two of the busiest days of the year for those concerned in the food business. That may be true for most restaurants but it could not be any truer than how it is in the well-loved mommy place, Mrs. Fields.

When you talk about Indian food, I am all ears. I am one big fan of spice-ful, aromatic and herby dishes of the South Asian country, that I often hop around town to taste the different restos offering the cuisine. Their unique weaving of flavors and spices really does linger on the tongue, making me crave for it and dream about it often.
So, I’m writing about alcohol again. Can’t get enough of the magical stuff, what can I say? There are just too many wonderful concoctions discovered by the alchemy of liquor. When I discovered the new mobile bar Liquid Lounge, I was beyond ecstatic. I mean really—local Bailey’s, Tequila Rose and Mudslide?—which means you can hoard vats of the same-tasting liquid and it won’t cost you much. You know you can’t get any better than that.

To say the Filipinos love Italian food is an understatement. In every neighborhood, there is at least one Italian restaurant that everyone raves about. For those living or working in the Fort area, Caffe Puccini remains a top draw.

It only took a picture of this to set me off from Makati to the faraway land of Mother Ignacia, Quezon City.

For those familiar with Lamesa Grill in Mall of Asia and Trinoma, a fine dining version has opened in Greenbelt 5. Proclaiming itself as a modern Filipino restaurant, Mesa attempts to put a new spin on well-loved classics such as the lowly tinapa (smoked fish) and the ubiquitous tilapia.
Spend your afternoon at the InterContinental Manila with a cup of tea or a glass of wine. For less than 500 pesos, indulge in either Filipino High Tea Delight or Wine Flights offerings in their fam... |
