MANILA, 22 May 2002 --
ClickTheCity.com, the Philippines' most comprehensive and widely used online city guide, was recently acquired by Surf Shop, Inc. from Singapore-based GetAsia.com.
"We’re proud and excited about our acquisition of ClickTheCity.com," says Nonong Vibar, President of Surf Shop, Inc. "It will definitely broaden the company's mobile content offering, and will further establish Surf Shop as a key Internet player in the country."
Over the past three years, ClickTheCity has established itself as the leading online entertainment guide and business directory in the country. The site has thousands of entries in its business directory listing, covering restaurants and bars, hotels and resorts, and shops and services. ClickTheCity also offers up-to-date information about movies, events, parties and exhibits in Metro Manila.
Vibar also says that the entertainment guide of ClickTheCity is one of the most useful information available in mobile phones. “I know a lot of people who access the SMS or WAP version of the city guide, almost everyday, to keep them updated of movie schedules and TV program listings, anytime they want and anywhere they are,” he adds.
ClickTheCity.com's contents are accessible on the Internet in multiple platforms -- PC browsers, wireless application protocol (WAP), short messaging services (SMS) and handheld devices like Palm Pilot. The site is a major provider of content for Smart Communications, Globe Telecom and Nextel. ClickTheCity.com also provides city guide and lifestyle content to the biggest portals and ISPs in the Philippines.
The site has received three major honors from the 2000 Philippine Web Awards. ClickTheCity.com won Best Website for Travel, Best Website for Services and a Special Award from Ericsson as the Best Website for Mobile Internet.
