The latest spring collection of Marks and Spencer is nothing short of diverse. Spring 2014 promises to deliver a myriad of textures, colors and styles that caters to every fashion persona.
Womenswear Spring 2014
M&S Collection presents four collections that range from the classically feminine to clean and modern. Botanicals features fluid maxi dresses alongside utilitarian jackets; dainty florals with touches of rich autumnal maroons. High Tide shifts to a modern nautical aesthetic: the ubiquitous Breton stripe; space dye prints and embroidered words on knit pieces. Primitive Modern is characterized by animal and geometric prints paired with opulent shades of chartreuse and burgundy. Finally, Le Grande Bleu takes inspiration from the South of France. The collection takes on a chic sailor look featuring clean and minimal shapes. Textures abound in the form of nautical stripes, digital checks, plush boucle and shades of red, white and blue—a nod to the French flag.
Limited Edition showcases a sleeker look with Urban Tribe. The architectural pieces boast of sharp lines, graphic prints and linear patterns in a complemetary palette of mustard and ultramarine blue; and a variety of textures, including intricate jacquard, have been utilized.
Indigo Collection’s feminine Origins collection features delicate motifs like crochet, lace trim, light cotton, embroidery and washed denim. The result is a romantic, boho-chic look.
Per Una injects an old world vibe into its latest collections. Nomadic Craft married modern lines with ethnic elements such as tribal patterns and modern beading. Catalina Bay showcases a crafty, folk-inspired look, done in a nautical palette of red and blue, and finished in detailed hand embellishments.
Finally, Autograph presents a slick and modern collection this season. The Architectural collection boasts of upscale pieces fashioned from premium fabrics. The silhouettes are tailored and boxy yet feminine while monochromatic shades are punched up by touches of pink.
Menswear Spring 2014
M&S Collection’s latest offerings for men feature all the staples one needs to go from brunch to boardroom. The Spring Collection boasts of this season’s must-haves: comfy crew necks, jersey shirts, cotton and long-sleeved tops, basic pocket trousers, essential cardigans and desert boots. The bold update to these classic pieces: a dose of color in a spring-worthy palette of cool aquas and energizing pinks. Golden Square offers the working man a flexible wardrobe that functions both as office or evening wear with key pieces such as tailored trousers, colored chinos and open collars that can be easily dressed up with a tie or handkerchief. The color palette features classic shades of grey, light brown and royal blue.
The color story continues in the North Coast collections. Beginning with City Lights, primary brights like red, turquoise and yellow brightens up colored denims, chinos, hoodies and parkas. On the other hand, the Bonneville collection features more tempered blues, greys and greens in its collection of sweaters, bomber jackets, cotton cable knits, hoodies, cargos, cracked print vintage sweaters, mid wash denims and chinos.
Blue Harbour’s spring offering is just as vibrant with its Westport Marina collection. Sunny shades of yellow and turquoise, navy and white livens up the classic engineered polo, modern cotton crewneck, and colored chinos. On the other, Yacht Club boasts of a more nautical mood with its engineered striped polos, plain pique polos, gingham shirts, bomber jackets, blazers and chambrays shorts, all in classic shades of red, white and blue.
Autograph’s smart modern offerings are at the core of its Rive Gauche collection. Drenched in rich teals and petrols, key pieces include cotton chinos, luxury jersey polos, contemporary tailored jackets and crew neck sweaters. On the other hand, St. Germain features a summer-inspired look done in sun-faded chalky tones, silvers and greys. The collection includes breezy pieces such as linen jackets, modern pique polos, floral shirts, crew neck jumpers and cotton chinos.
Finally, M&S Tailoring offers Southwark, a collection of smart business suits featuring impeccable tailoring. Staples include the classic dark navy suit, the fine stripe suit, colored or striped ties, fine gingham and mini stripe shirts. Colors include updated blues and reds.
