A new stall just opened at Megamall's hawker food hub, and they're serving up this authentic Malaysian dish with the fluffiest fragrant rice.
Coco Kanin is the newest offering at Makansutra and at this new stall, they champion the Nasi Lemak — a fragrant rice dish popular in Malaysia and Singapore and is considered Malaysia's national dish. As comfort food goes, they eat this rice meal at any time of the day, pretty much like how we find comfort in our Filipino 'silogs from day to night. A typical nasi goreng has fragrant rice decked with an assortment of savory add-ons and garnishes, like vegetables, fried fish, peanuts, egg, and the hot and spicy sambal to tie everything together.
At Coco Kanin, they offer Nasi Lemak Basic Set (P220) and Nasi Lemak Full Monty (P270) both served over a banana leaf. It's a steal with enough fixins to go with their serving of fluffy coconut rice (it's more than a cup, which will make all you rice monsters extra happy).
You can even top up your Nasi Lemak with additional fixins, perfect if you're super famished or want to share your plate with a friend. Orders of Fried Chicken Wing (P50), Sambal Squid (P30), Fish (P30), Sambal Egg (P35), and Rice (P60) are available a la carte. We recommend getting extra chicken because it's just amazingly crispy and perfect with rice cooked in coconut milk!
