Experience Full Southern Comfort Food at Café Creole in Resorts World Manila

A combination of classic New Orleans flavors with modern inspirations is the best way to describe this new restaurant in Resorts World Manila.

A combination of classic New Orleans flavors with modern inspirations is the best way to describe this new restaurant in Resorts World Manila. The Café Creole promise is simple: great coffee, soul food at its best and a charming place to enjoy all these with someone or even just by yourself.

A classic New Orleans coffee shop at heart, Café Creole is an all-day cafe offering the full southern comfort food experience. From its wide selection of Southern brunch dishes, savory soul food, signature coffee offerings, breads and pastries that's freshly baked every day; you'll be surprised that there's always something special to try with every visit at any time of the day.

Behind this casual dining concept is restaurateur Raymund Magdaluyo and celebrity chef Peter Ayson. What began as a tribute to the late Uncle Murray Hertz who is the original founder of Murray's New Orleans Bourbon Street Steaks and Oysters, is now an actual restaurant which is supposed to be a spinoff of Uncle Murray's establishment which has always been an inspiration to them.

Starting with the serving of the Bread Basket (P345), I knew we were in for a carb-filled afternoon treat. The basket includes two butter croissant, two large pandesals, five slives of banana bread which has a crip outer part (a personal favorite, by the way!), two beignets generously dusted with powdered sugar and a mini baguette. It is served with jams that are in season and flavored butter.

Served hot, the New Orleans Seafood Gumbo (P265) has cajun broth with the right amount of spice, which come to think of it, would be paired nicely with a couple of the breads served earlier. The classic Gumbo also has andouille sausage that gives the bowl the smokiness it needs, plump shrimps, okra and steamed rice. Another can't-miss on the menu is The Creole Frittata (P420) which is part of their brunch lineup. Served on a hot skillet, it is blessed with the breakfast gods — blackened chicken, creole shrimps, fire pit sausage, holy trinity (mirepoix: onions, bell peppers, and celery), mozzarella cheese and eggs.

Think of Café Creole's Bourbon Street Jambalaya (P390) as a distant relative of paella. Jambalaya is actually quite similar to Gumbo but while the latter has thick soup served over rice, the former is a rice dish that contains protein and vegetables simmered together with the stock until they are cooked.

Upon entering, you'll notice the brick oven which they use to bake their Wood Fire Pizzas. One of the best-sellers is the Earth Bread (P360) — something you'll love if you want to ease up on protein. It has wild mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, mozzarella, parmesan chips and arugula salad tossed in balsamic vinegar on top of it.

Other flavors you'd want to try are the Cheese Farm (P430) which has a total of five cheeses (mozarella, gorgonzola, gruyere, parmesan and provolone) and The Pig and Fig (P390) which has fig jam, smoked bacon, dried figs, green apple, arugula and mozzarella gorgonzola. Or if you want a more straightforward pizza, the Creole Shrimp & Pesto (P390) should be up on your list; it has a basil pesto base, creole shrimps, tomatoes and mozzarella.

Cool down with their frappes which cost P190 each. We couldn't believe how afforable it is considering that they look wickedly good! We got to try the Brownie Monster and S'mores and of course, we can't wait to try the other interesting flavors — Cookie Peanut Dough and Banana Toffee.

Believe it or not, the café transforms into the night. From a vibrant vibe to a brasserie which is reminiscent of one of Bourbon Street's cozy spots for dinner over drinks. Whether it's brunch with the family, catching up with your old friends over a cup of coffee or a dinner date, Café Creole's warm interiors and festive ambiance will make it a memorable experience for you with every visit.
