Filipino Restaurants in Manila, Part 2: Where to Eat with Balikbayan and Foreign Guests

Last year, we rounded up ten restaurants where you can devour traditional and modern Filipino favorites. In this second installment, we share ten more for whenever you're craving for luscious Pinoy food--served with extra rice, please!

Last year, we rounded up ten restaurants where you can devour traditional and modern Filipino favorites–a list quite handy for whenever a balikbayan relative comes home craving Pinoy food, or when you need to give a Filipino Cuisine 101 and impress hungry foreign guests.

Now that Independence Day is just around the corner and that this year, Filipino cuisine is put on spotlight (it's included as part of 2015's food trends!), we decided to share even more love for our own local food with a second list. There's always something to rave about Phlippine cuisine, and the best way to appreciate Filipino dishes is to eat them, of course. Prepare your belly for extra rice, as we share ten more Metro Manila restaurants for whenever you're craving for luscious Pinoy food.

This quaint restaurant decorated with family memorabilia is known for their collection of timeless Filipino food that uses recipes that have been handed down each generation.

This restaurant took the latter part of 2014's social media feed by storm — everyone could not get enough of their creative renditions of favorite Filipino comfort food (and apparently, can't stop taking photos of them too!). From sizzling everything to lechon-loaded dishes, food here is proudly locally grown, locally produced, and locally made.

Chef Fernando Aracama showcases regional Filipino cuisine that incorporates his fresh, flavorful ideas in this restaurant in BGC. While late-night patrons stay till the wee hours for its cocktail bar, live music and dj sets, diners seat themselves hungry earlier for a homegrown dinner feast by the popular Negrense chef.

Formerly in Maginhawa (and one of the OGs in the popular QC foodie street, opening in 2009), Pino is now located in Malingap Street and still serves hearty Filipino food served with a twist. Their Kare-Kareng Bagnet remains as everyone's favorite since the year they opened, and for veggie-loving foodies, its hippie vegetarian sister restaurant, Pipino, is just right beside it.

Power couple Chefs Roland and Jackie Laudico has transformed a heritage house in San Juan into a culinary playground by offering their creative masterpieces in an upscale buffet setting. Eat all you can of Filipino fare and other food favorites in an old-world, Spanish themed environment.
