The establishment at the fifth floor of Century City Mall in Makati is just weeks old and on soft opening, but 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub has already gained a following with its solid lineup of evening events, live music, and wicked pub food.
No, the name isn't a reference to the 90s sci-fi film starring Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis–it's a playful moniker for the pub's twelve owners, which include DJ Tony Toni, Jinno Rufino, GP Cruz, Champ Lui Pio, and Chito Miranda.
Currently, 12 Monkeys has been shaking up weeknights with its slew of events, and the establishment has already managed to stage an intimate gig with international act China Crisis in less than an month of its opening. With Champ Lui Po and Chito Miranda at the helm of curating the lineup for their music events, expect a fun and solid selection of artists (both well-known and up and coming acts) at 12 Monkeys.
In a recent interview for MYX, co-owner Chito Miranda shared that they wanted to open a place that gave off the vibe of great bars of past like Club Dredd and Mayrics — places where musicians started their careers and places where musicians actually hang out for some beer and good music. "Not just rock and roll, lahat talaga ng genres," Miranda said, "and we want a stage for the indie artists and the bands na tambayan.'
This week, they have pulled off an awesome double-trouble gig for Thursday: Wolfgang and Razorback will perform live at 12 Monkeys. Clearly, this music hall and pub is making a statement with its stellar live performance line-ups.

Their selection of pub grub is promising as well, with an interesting selection of pizza flavors aptly named Picha Pie in their menu as a nod to its Parokya Ni Edgar co-owner. 12 Monkeys pizza-fies food like palabok, shawarma, and sisig, for those looking for something new and fun. The Sisig Tribute (P320) has crispy pork sisig, garlic mayonnaise, quail eggs, mozzarella; Ivan's Palabok Pizza (P350) combines shrimp sauce, calamari, boiled egg, chicharon, grilled shrimps, and white goat cheese. The #BOOMPARAS Shawarma Pizza (P350) is topped with roasted beef sirloin, grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and yogurt garic. And of course, there is the Chito's Street Corner Picha Pie (P260) which is a throwback to the very Pinoy sweet-style pizza of our childhood, made with sweet tomato sauce, triangle nuclear ham, and quickmelt cheese.
Comforting (and some heart-stopping) Rice Bowls are also available to curb your hangover. An order of Barrel of Monkeys Rice (P285) has beef tips, chorizo, bacon, soy garlic rice, and egg in your bowl. The indulgent Crab Fat Rice (P340) features crab aligue, garlic, grilled pork belly, and pickled vegetable. Another 'comfort in a bowl' order would be their Midnight in Pares (P290) — braised beef, tamago, garlic rice, and homemade chili sauce.
Currently on soft-opening operations, 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub is located at the 5th floor of Century City Mall, Makati Avenue corner Kalayaan Avenue. Open daily, 6pm to 3am.
