New World Makati Hotel offers guests a gastronomic adventure at Café 1228. The hotel's signature all-day dining restaurant offers a fun buffet experience where you can enjoy a live action cooking station where fresh seafood is served, and also a carving station for premium meats.
Delicious food selections await the hungry at Café 1228's buffet, some dishes displayed in separate sections and islands. It’s easy which part of the spread to attack first, though, as the spread is not too overwhelming compared to that of other dizzying buffet spreads. There are many choices for local, Chinese, Japanese, Western and other international cuisines from their five live kitchens.
If you're stumped on how to begin your meal, start with a plate of fresh greens from their salad bar. You can start light and build your own bowl of greens, top it off with cheese and bacon bits and other fresh ingredients to prepare your tummy for a feast.
Salad BarA smorgasbord isn’t complete without a Japanese Station, so be sure to visit their Japanese section for their crispy tempura and their fresh sashimi, the two being constants best-sellers. Nearby, you’ll see the Chinese Station which is a preview of what Jasmine, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, offers. Their dimsum and noodles are what people are coming back for, so have a couple of them before moving on to heavier dishes.

Chef Ivan Chieregatti, the hotel's Italian Executive Chef, takes special care of the buffet's Italian Station where freshly made pasta dishes are served. On our visit, he personally whipped up a Parmesan Cream Gnocchi with Truffle Essence which was deliciously creamy but not overwhelming at all. Who could say no to truffles and an Italian chef preparing Italian food especially for you?

For cheese-lovers out there, make your way to their Cheese and Bread Station, where five different kinds are offered: Brie, Pecorino with Truffle, Taleggiko, Emmental, and Tom de Savoie.

Rivka Nagtalon, director of communication, recommended the Dessert Station as it is their customers’ favorite, loaded with all kinds of delectable sweet treats to end your meal. The cheesecake and brownies are to die for, and these two are so popular that they're the fastest items to be wiped out among the spread of desserts.

The brownies are crisp outside but really moist in every bite. They also have assorted fresh fruit sushi, crème brulee, and panna cottas. They also have a live crepe station and an ice cream corner where they serve their house ice creams (I loved their calamansi sherbet among all the creamy flavors!). The dessert section is located the closest to Café 1228's entrance by the hotel lobby, maybe to please the sweet-toothed customers upon entering the restaurant, or to simply tease the hungry that sometimes, we like our desserts to come first.
