Opera Extravaganza
The Manila Symphony Orchestra caps its 2009 season with Opera Extravaganza. Opera Extravaganza! is an exciting celebration of opera masterpieces by the most acclaimed composers of all time.
Camille Lopez Molina and Margarita Gomez Giannelli, two of the most sought-after sopranos today, treat the audience to an extravaganza of opera arias, including excerpts from the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Wagner, Vincenzo Bellini and Pietro Mascagni. The Manila Symphony Orchestra will be led by music director and principal conductor, Prof. Arturo Molina in a triumphant finale to a successful season.
Camille Lopez Molina has been very active performing both locally and abroad. A flexible performer, she has appeared in operas, operettas, zarzuela, Broadway and off-Broadway musicals and is a frequent soloist of the premiere orchestras of the country. She has sung in concerts and recitals in Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Spain, and the Czech Republic. Camille is currently a member of the voice faculty of St. Scholastica's College Manila School of Music, the Centro Escolar University School of Music, and the University of the Philippines College of Music.
Margarita Gomez Giannelli is a young soprano lauded for the power, beauty and unusual timbre of her voice. She has performed extensively in the Philippines as well as in the United States and Europe. Margarita is a graduate of both the Curtis Institute of Music and the University of the Philippines College of Music. She has also received training from the Chautauqua Institution Music School, Centro Studi Italiani and the interim program of the Opera Company of Philadelphia.
Tickets are at P1000 (Orchestra Center) and P500 (Orchestra Sides and Lodge), with 50% student and 20% senior citizen discounts.
