About the Event

The 2017 International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Language Education (ICALLE 2017), themed “Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching: Research, Theory, Pedagogy, and Practice” will take place on February 9 to 11, 2017 at De La Salle University Manila.

Organized by DLSU’s Department of English and Applied Linguistics and the DLSU Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC College of Education, the conference aims to share findings of applied linguistic research and their implications for and applications to language education in different contexts; facilitate the sharing of ideas about how applied linguistics can help language education foster enduring understanding among learners across levels – elementary, secondary, college/university; update participants with innovative methods and strategies in teaching a  language and assessing language learning; and help in establishing a network of applied linguists and language educators throughout the world.

Notable speakers for ICALLE 2017 are Arizona State University’s Dr. Paul Kei Matsuda, University of Hong Kong’s Dr. Ken Hyland, and National Institute of Education, Singapore’s Dr. Willy Renandya.

Researchers and academics are invited to submit abstracts that fall under the theme “Linking Research and Language Education.” Interested presenters can submit abstracts from the following strands: 1. Teaching and Learning in the English classroom  (K to 12 or higher ed) or in the context of MTBLE (Instruction, Curriculum, Learners, Assessment, Language policy, ESP, and New literacies ); 2. Human resource development/Professional development (Professional development framework, Standards, Pre-service, Capacity-building activities, Teacher beliefs and practices) 3. Applied Linguistics (Cognitive processes, Second language acquisition, Language planning, Language and gender, World Englishes, and Forensic Linguistics); 4. Linguistic Description and Corpus linguistics; and Multidisciplinary studies .
