Food Photography with Ricky Ladia

Due to the abundance of restaurants around the metro and the increase in food-related publications, the demand for food photography is on the rise. In this workshop, aspiring photographers will be taught to make any cuisine look more appetizing.

  Applicable for both studio and on location shoots, workshop topics include:

• Determining the different purposes of food photography
• Knowing the food photography team
• Identifying basic equipment needed
• Learning the basic food lighting techniques
• Composing, using props, and other tips on food styling
• Conceptualizing a food photography shoot
• PLUS: Knowing specific food applications

To challenge participants in working with variable light conditions and the dynamic outdoor environment, the photoshoot will be conducted in the restaurant settings of Museum Cafe and Kabila near Greenbelt Gardens. 

About the Speaker

Ricky Ladia worked as a photographer at an advertising and publishing company in the Middle East for two years where he specialized in taking detailed photos of artifacts and reproducing paintings and old photographs. He was later employed by Solar Publishing for its industry-leading fashion and lifestyle magazines, which include Woman Today Weekly, Woman Today Fashion, Glitter andCelebrityRecipes.

Ladia later took on freelance work for mainstream magazines from reputable publishing companies such as Eastgate Publishing (Mabuhay magazine), ABS-CBN, Summit Media, and Hinge-Inquirer Publications. He has also shot for hotels, resorts, fashion and retail brands, and has done celebrity profiles, among other things. He has also worked with Heritage and the Shangri-La Hotels, Ayala Land, Inc., and property developer Robinsons Land Corporation.

Ladia is known for his food photography, having worked with several food magazines, as well as with various restaurants and culinary schools in the country. He also dabbles with fashion photography, having done covers for leading style publications. While Ladia considers himself a generalist photographer who does not want to limit his creativity.
