In an era of global anxiety, GODSPELL reaches out to the audience in a timely message of peace and hope. MusicArtes, with its record of opera hits, stages its first Broadway musical - GODSPELL - at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza on June 17-19 &24-26.
"Day By Day,", an international hit, is one of many songs in this new staging with Dr. Anton Juan at the helm. Showcasing a powerhouse cast led by Ms. Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, GODSPELL also features Jef Flores as Jesus and OJ Mariano as Judas. Others in the cast are Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Caisa Borromeo, Poppert Bernadas, Topper Fabregas, Red Concepcion, Stephen Viñas, Abi Sulit, Maronne Cruz, Rhenz Gabalonzo, and Gab Pangilinan.
GODSPELL, a timeless musical that has taken the world by storm, was the first major musical theatre offering from 3-time Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden) and was originally written by a visionary playwright, John-Michael Tebelak, as a thesis. With its spirituality and its enduring popular songs like "Day by Day", "Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord", "All Good Things", "Light of The World,” GODSPELL is a creative, entertaining way of presenting the parables of Jesus Christ that will surely enlighten both young and older audiences.
Production design is by Otto Hernandez with Ejay Yatco as Music Director and John Batalla as Lights Designer. A Musicartes production by arrangement with Samuel French Limited, Godspell is assisted by Fullness of Christ International Ministries and Land Registration Systems.
