About the Event

Young minds seldom have the opportunity to enjoy orchestral music these days, and music with such cultural value has been declining in terms of popularity.

This year, in celebration of De La Salle University – Dasmarinas Lasallian Festival 2016, DLSU-D Symphonic Band will be having their annual concert for a cause promoting cultural and environmental awareness entitled ANIMUSIKA 8 “Melodies of the Wind” on February 17, 2016, 4:00 – 8:00 PM at DLSU-D Ugnayang La Salle. This is a concert for the environment in support of One Million Trees and Beyond Project of De La Salle Philippines, and for the benefit of One La Salle and Performing Arts Group Scholars.

It was in 2009 when ANIMUSIKA first started. It came from the words “ANIMO”, which is popularly known as the battle cry of Lasallians and “MUSIKA”, a Filipino term for music. Thus, the word means “Lasallian Music.” Every year the organization strives to develop new ideas and themes to effectively inspire the youth towards cultural awareness.

On its eight year, DLSU-D Symphonic Band developed a concept “A Ticket bought is a Tree adopted”, wherein tree seedling stations would be present at the event for the audience to claim - promoting musicality and sustainability, in partnership with DLSU-D Communication and Media Society, DLSU-D Environmental Resources Management Center, Lasallian Vigilance for Environmental Development and DLSU-D University Student Council.

This event is in line in pursuit of the mission-vision of the University in creating stewards of God’s creation and promoting a keen sense of arts and culture. It will be addressing societal issues on environmental degradation and climate change, mobilizing and intensifying youth involvement in the process of social transformation. This is their small step to help the environment and your support would greatly contribute to the success of the event.
