About the Event

In my preceding works, I’ve paid close attention to every tiny detail and religiously strive to polish up my lines, figures, and strokes. Every painting constituted a set of rituals geared toward realism and perfection.

Mistakes were covered in a way that lies were disguised and cries were muffled. Eventually, I felt burdened by my traditional approach and my struggle for perfection began to take its toll. Realism do not equate to realness after all.

A paradigm shift ensues from my desire to promote accessibility and to initiate dialogues, to appeal to participants and not just spectators. I feel that it is my responsibility as an artist to breathe life to paintings that evoke freedom and reveal the truth.

These pieces are done in the absence of my struggles and the rules I set upon myself. I abandoned flawlessness and embraced bared anatomies, exposed canvases, scumbling strokes, broken lines, and drips of turpentine to show an individual true to his work.
