About the Event

Everyoneis invited to take part in a variety of exciting activities for families and children in Pasinaya, the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ annual open house festival on February 7, 2016 starting 8:00am at various CCP venues. Under the theme ‘Family and Children’, the event forms part of the children’s programs of the CCP.

Highlights of the Pasinaya include youth choirs singing ‘Bata Ang Bukas’ by Ryan Cayabyab, a drum and lyre performance by children, screenings of films from Cinemalaya and Animahenasyon festivals, puppet show, storytelling, poetry reading and balagtasan for kids, stage productions of Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland and the like. Different areas and venues of the CCP have been zoned and dedicated to the various art forms such as dance, music, theater, film and the visual arts. There are zones devoted to workshops and children as well.

More than 3,000 artists from community-based and school-based artistic groups will participate in the 2016 CCP Pasinaya. In addition to the performances, there will be workshops, film screenings, lecture-demonstrations, exhibits and storytelling activities.

Partner institutions, namely, Metropolitan Museum and Museo Pambata on Roxas Boulevard, National Museum on P. Burgos Drive, Rizal Park, Casa Manila and Bahay Tsinoy in Intramuros, 1335 Mabini Gallery in Ermita Manila, and Museo Marino will be opening their doors to the public for Pasinaya on February 7. The latest to join Pasinaya this year are the University of the Philippines Manila Museum of A History of Ideas, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Cinematheque Manila. Aside from the exhibits on view at these partner institutions, performances are scheduled.

Pasinaya is the biggest multi arts festival in the Philippines featuring the participation of thousands of artists and hundreds of artistic and cultural groups. Pasinaya is presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines and is headlined by the CCP’s own resident companies, namely, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, University of Santo Tomas Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), Philippine Madrigal Singers and Tanghalang Pilipino.
