About the Event

Global effects of climate change has opened the eyes of various nations to greater need to care for the environment. Here in the Philippines, young talents are taking their part in “Green Fashion Revolution” by designing fashion-forward wearable clothing pieces using recycled materials.

In “ECOUTURE: Greener Design for a BetterWorld”, the Aboitiz Group provides a platform for the young college students to celebrate their creative talent while pushing for the timely environmental agenda. The designs will be featured on a grand runway show on January 30, Saturday, at the SMX Convention Center Aura, Taguig.

An estimated 200 kilos of waste material from various Aboitiz business units were repurposed by students of Asia Pacific College, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, University of Asia and the Pacific, University of the Philippines-Diliman, and University of Santo Tomas as the main material for their various design collections including clothing pieces, accessories, bags, and footwear. The best designer will also get to implement a corporate social responsibility project for their chosen beneficiary.

About the Green Fashion Revolution

Green Fashion Revolution is a CSR initiative under the Aboitiz Group’s Wealth on Waste Program. It promotes creative recycling of waste materials after its useful life. A brainchild of a group of Aboitiz scholars during the Aboitiz Scholars’ CSR Summit in December 2011, the program was first staged in 2012 through the auspices of the Aboitiz Foundation. Since then, it has been challenging students to create clothing, footwear, and accessories that make use of recycled materials and highlight the importance of the 3Rs—reduce, reuse, and recycle.
