In 1984, members of University of the Philippines’ Cineastes' Studio (UP Cineastes) set out to form the first student film organization based at the UP College of Mass Communication, committed to serve the film community and promote film awareness, appreciation and understanding, and as well as to other forms of artistic expression. This year, UP Cineastes celebrates 30 years of filmmaking at any cost.
Entitled Cineastes XXX, this year’s theme is to unearth and elevate traditions through exposing histories and exhausting possibilities. To further the vision of the organization and celebrate its 30th anniversary, series of events were held as follows:

- Cineastes Sportsfest – September 10
- Grand Film Orgy – September 12
- Documentary Workshop – September 17
- D’Original Jologs Quiz Show – September 29
- Cineastes Exhibit – September 15-19, September 22-26
- Grand Pakain – September 24
- Grand Alumni Homecoming – September 26
- Applicants’ Orientation September – 30
Together with OLX.Ph and Array’s Technology, Inc, the UP Cineastes’ Studio presented these events with pride and confidence in line with the organization’s continued support and elevation of filmmaking and the cinema.
